Ibsen in China

Ibsen in China started in 2010 in collaboration with several partners in China and Norway, and presented Ibsen’s plays as Chinese Opera, Contemporary Dance Theatre, an Ibsen Festival for Students in China, an exhibition and also launched Jon Fosse for the first time into China as Norway’s new Ibsen with his most famous play Someone is going to Come, and academic seminars, workshops and conferences.

Ibsen in China is supported and presented by The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Beijing and The Royal Norwegian Consulate General in Shanghai and Guangzhou and Ibsen International. Ibsen in China is also conditioned by other foundations in China and Norway.

Ibsen in China takes place in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Nanjing in China.

Ibsen in China aims to rely on the foundation to create long-term relations between partners in China and Norway within the fields of art, culture, research, trade and industry and development. The subject matters of Ibsen’s works comprise social and human issues, which Norway aims to be associated with internationally:

  • Gender equality
  • Freedom of speech
  • Preservation of the environment
  • Idealism
  • Individual liberty
  • Fight against corruption
  • Positive process of globalization

Objectives for Ibsen in China
