Symposium on Ibsen and Interculturalism in China
After viewing Yue opera Lady from the Sea (commissioned by Ibsen International, Norway), on Oct. 14, participants of the symposium will gather at STA on the 15, presenting papers/speeches on topics from Ibsen in an intercultural context, Chinese Approaches to Western Theatre, critiques of Lady from the Sea and other Ibsen productions, etc.. Aside from professors from the above four institutions such as Sun Jian, He Chengzhou, Hu Zhiyi, Gong Baorong, Liu Minghou, participants include Inger Buresund, Artistic and Managing Director of Ibsen International, Richard Schechner, renowned theatre director, theoretician and University Professor, New York University, Anuradha Kapur, Director of India’s National School of Drama, New Delhi. More scholar/artist participants in related areas are welcome.
